The RENT XXIV was organised in Maastricht, the Netherlands, on November 18-19, 2010. The conference was hosted by Maastricht University and co-organised by ECSB and EIASM. The main theme for the conference was
"The Entrepreneurial Process in a Changing Economy".
This year the Conference was more than just two days of plenary and track sessions. On the day prior to the main conference, ECSB organised a Doctoral Consortium, a Post-Doctoral Roundtable, a Case Writing Workshop and a Policy Forum. On the day after the conference concluded, there was an ‘Entrepreneurs Day’ which featured speakers from industry, academia and government debating the key issues relating to businesses in today’s challenging economic climate.
The annual prizes were awarded as follows:
- Jose Maria Veciana Best Paper Award – Mario Geissler, Stefan Jahn, Cornelia Zanger (Chemnitz University of Technology) – Entrepreneurial Opportunities and Their Interplay with Entrepreneurial Intention Creation: An Empirical Study
- ECSB / USASBE / ICSB Best Doctoral Award – Irmeli Pietilä (HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Sciences, Helsinki)
Congratulations to the winners!
Moreover, the prestigious position of ECSB Fellow was awarded to Professor Hans Landström at the RENT Conference. He joins previous recipients Jose Maria Veciana, Zoltan Roman, Roy Thurik, David Smallbone and Hans Crijns (Chair of Fellows) within the select group of ECSB Fellows. Congratulations to Hans Landström!
Already a seventh Inter-RENT publication was launched at the RENT conference. This year’s journal “Current Research on Entrepreneurship and SME Management” was edited by Matthias Fink and Isabella Hatak. As always, the annual general meeting of ECSB was held in the closing session and was run by the President of ECSB, Thomas Cooney. The AGM was first with ECSB having a new status as a legal entity.
