After the sixteen previous Workshops the
RENT XVII conference was organised in Lodz, Poland and was hosted by
the University of Lodz.
Development of European culture and economy poses increasingly new challenges before the science of entrepreneurship. Research on entrepreneurship and on small and medium-sized enterprises has to respond to a challenge of practice and seek answers to the most urgent problems, as well as follow the trend of the most important developments in the contemporary world economy.
Development of the theory of entrepreneurship and studies of small business behaviour and economics should focus on satisfying these new needs of the European science and economy. Ideally this should be done in the context of the European Research Area (which is also the topic of
the EU´s of the 6th Framework Programme)
Similarly to the earlier conferences, RENT XVII also wanted to address theoretical and practical interpretations of many other phenomena linked with entrepreneurship.
RENT XVII was held at a historical moment of Europe’s development. The enlargement of the European Union with ten new countries, will create a new research task concerning opportunities and threats appearing in the field of entrepreneurship and connected with development of small and medium-sized enterprises.
