| PRESIDENT'S GREETINGS |

Dear members of ECSB,
It is my pleasure as president for the period July 2007 to June 2009 to welcome you to the website of European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship, www.ecsb.org. ECSB is currently in a good position to fulfil its mission of promoting co-operation between researchers, policy makers, practitioners and educators in Europe. This is thanks to the leadership of my predecessor Professor David Smallbone.
Are you interested in participating and developing ECSB further? There are several options where we would value your input, and if you have suggestions of your own, please let us know.
We are currently setting up a policy working group, and we invite all members to participate. Please look out on the webpage or in the next newsletter for more information. We also will continue offering policy workshops as one means of contributing to national entrepreneurship development and facilitating co-operation between researchers and policy-makers. Successful seminars have been held in Riga, further events are planned in the UK, Poland and Hungary. If in your country you want to offer a policy seminar together with ECSB, please let us know.
A major priority over the next years will be to increase the role of younger researchers within ECSB. We organise a yearly doctoral workshop before the RENT Conferences; and we are currently also considering and developing other activities for doctoral and post-doc researchers. Our aim is to encourage international exchange between younger researchers and to increase their participation in ECSB. If you have any suggestions in this regard, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me or other board members.
Many of you will have participated in the 52nd ICSB World Conference in Turku in June 2007. The next event now is the XXI RENT Conference, this time in Cardiff. I personally am looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible there or at other ECSB events.
